Supporting local businesses

Whitley Bay Gift Vouchers are a great way of ensuring that money spent on someone is going to stay within the very town they were purchased from.

The scheme is the brainchild of the Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade, which has been running for over 40 years to support businesses who are located in the town and surrounding areas.

This is a non-profit scheme. 100% of the value of the voucher goes directly to the business who has accepted them as payment. The Chamber covers all operating costs, which are minimal.

Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade is operated by volunteers who all have a business in the area or an interest in the town itself. The Chamber is recognised by North Tyneside Council, Northumbria Police and Nexus as a representation of local business owners to ensure that the town remains an attractive place to conduct business.

It is estimated that over £20k worth of Whitley Bay Gift Vouchers have been sold since the scheme started, and that's £20k which may have been spent elsewhere if it was not for the vouchers.

The voucher scheme is great for Whitley Bay and great for business, with over 80 independent shops, restaurants, bars, leisure outlets and more all happy to be part of it.
